OMG my mind is maxxed out bc I am learning sooo much!

Sooooo Disgusted at Wal*Mart

Today I am disgusted. I broke my good palette knife last week, and I live in the boonies. I went to our newly "improved" Wal*Mart and looked for a palette knife... and looked.... and looked.... THERE WAS NONE! Not even a place for them to hang. Lots of brushes and ridiclously small and overpriced tubes of paint (in a set of course!), but not one palette knife!

I am bummed, wanted to paint along with Alison Vernon of New Hampshire, who has recently enchanted me with her easy yet impeccable technique as I witnessed in a video series I found yesterday.

I think I am going to start avoiding Wal*Mart at all costs, literally... this giant has become a legal monopoly, and now, they are stifling creativity (they even got rid of the FABRIC SECTION!?!?!).
But HEY, look at the HUGE electronics section! If you want to be a mindless drone and not have one creative thought you intend to act on, sit on your ever-increasing obese booty and be inundated with other people's ideas that are ultimately one big advertisement, well then, THIS is the place for you!

Don't forget the heat lamps with the grab-n-go boxes of fried chicken on the left of where your hungry easily-influenced immediate-gratification driven self waits for the sub-speedy cashier... and the sodas on your right, right by the candy bars...

Grosssssssssssss...........

I am so digusted. I think I would rather pay 85 cents more for every item I would otherwise buy there than weaken my already wavering sense of integrity...

Please give me a frickin' palette knife, some paint, a canvas and a well-deserved half hour, frolicking with my muse...

Day 2 - Albany Child Support

I'm not done running back and forth. They wanted his address. I gave a COUNTY ORGANIZATION the city and state and they said they couldn't serve him unless I had the zip!

THEY COULDN'T LOOK IT UP? If my phone had internet, I could've had it in two seconds....
I'm afraid this is going to be a lonnnng battle!

I might even be driving back there to sit amongst the wonderful achievers I was subject to be near yesterday. You see, there is also a Treatment court there, where drug addicted parents can get "help". There were alot of fidgety, snuffling, pajama-pants and wife beaters-with-sideways-hats wearing people there... it seemed there were alot more of them than parents who were there for a noble reason.

I even went so far as to find an aerial view of his house on Google Earth, they are getting a printout of it so they CAN'T mess it up!

Tomorrow all I am doing is painting and reading blogs allllllll darn day (not really, but that is my goal!)!

Moonlight Sea Frolic Mermaids and Waves Mixed Media Collage Assemblage

I was needing some fun so I made this and had a blast. This is acrylic on recycled furniture panel. I affixed a really cute moon and beads with wire... the beads are stars or bubbles that seem to float!

The mermaids are both my creations, prints from art cards I made... There is a tiny seahorse catching a wave who might look familiar... he's from another recent painting I did.

This is coated with two coats of non-yellowing acrylic sealer. There is a ribbon attached on the back for easy even hanging.

Being this is made from a side panel of a cast-off dresser drawer, the dovetail at the top was perfect to suggest some choppy little waves at the water's surface. This is done in acrylics and sealed with a clear finish for durability. It is ready to be hung by a pretty royal blue satin ribbon that is double-affixed to the back.

I am an artist, but also a "car chick"... this means that if it has to do with cars and even the slightest bit artistic, I am in my glory.

Every year I attend car shows and drag my friends or family along, blithely trotting alongside me, trying to figure out why I "ooh" and "aah" and trying to act interested.

Then I saw the ULTIMATE TV Commercial. Well, ultimate for me, anyway. BMW took a roadster and ALOT of paint and BOY am I jealous of the guy that got to drive!
